The exhibition foregrounds the technical imperfections of analogue photography and printing as a working artistic tool and a way to slow down the gaze and reassess subjects that are not conventionally presented as picturesque.

Here, wabi-sabi is read through photography: imperfection, impermanence, and incompleteness as an aesthetic programme.
An optics of happy accidents: effects emerge during shooting or in the printing process and become part of the work’s meaning.
A viewing route: from the everyday motif to the way technique changes the status of the image.

Sergey Trunin (b. 1966, Moscow) studied at the photography school affiliated with VGIK; he works with alternative analogue processes and pictorialism.
